Greetings to our 2019 summer buddies…

It's almost summertime! We are excited to continue our program over the summer. Each of our 9-week summer sessions will be filled with activities to transform the lazy days of summer into the learning days of summer! Each session will provide the chance for your little ones to experience theme related vocabulary words and facts, music, science, pretend play, creative art experiences, counting, colors and shapes, sounds, letter recognition, small group experiences, large group experiences, meet old and new friends, experience on-site field trips, and most importantly to have fun!

The themes for our 2019 summer program are:

Week One (May 28- May 31) "Famous Artists" Join us this week as we explore a new famous artist each day. You are never too young to appreciate art! Exploring famous artists is a lot of fun and a great opportunity to expose even the youngest children to new art processes and techniques. Teaching children about art history can inspire some exciting artist inspired art projects.

Week Two (June 3- June 7) "Holidays" What's your favorite holiday! It matters not! Come all ye faithful because we've got big ones wrapped into one fantastic week. Celebrate them all; Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and of course Christmas, with age appropriate guided activities that are sure to bring smiles and feelings of friendship, renewal, suspense, gratitude, and charity (but in a fun way), of course!

Week Three (June 10- June 14) "Around the World in 80 Days" Come join us for a journey around the world. The children will experience different countries and their unique customs, crafts, foods, and music too! So, all aboard as we journey to the ends of the world.

Week Four (June 17- June 21) " Sports Extravaganza" How many sports can we fit into a week? Let's find out as we wear ourselves silly with as many games, matches, and tournaments as we can cram into five days. We'll include skills, drills, and assorted activities to improve balance and focus while building strength and motor skills. Your team is counting on you! Come join the fun.

Week Five (June 24- June 28) "Treasure Hunters" Arrr mateys! Join us for a week designed to spark your child's imagination and tickle their funny bone. Decoding pirate's maps, scavenger hunting for buried treasure, singing chanties of the raging seas- you name it, and we'll do it as we race the Barbary Coast and return home with tales of mighty exploits.

Week Six (July 1- July 5) "Party in the USA" Flags are flying high and fireworks light up the sky, as we spend the week celebrating our great country. We will have special visits from our fire and police department and at the end of the week we will have a grand cook out. Join us as we celebrate the RED, WHITE, and BLUE!!

Week Seven (July 8- July 12) " Where the Wild Things Are" Tigers, lions, and jungle animals of all sorts! Come join us for fun and educational lessons as we take a trip into the dense jungle. We will encounter some animals from the jungle as they make a special visit to the Children's Center and play in the mud just like Tarzan!

Week Eight (July 15- July 19) "Hollywood" Lights, camera, action! All are invited to week stars and glitter. We will center our week on all thing’s movies. We will memorialize our handprints just like at the Grauman's Chinese Theater. The children will get to sit down for an Oscar lunch and receive some Academy Awards.

Week Nine (July 22- July 24) "The World of Eric Carle" Come join us as we read and learn about the wonderful life of Eric Carle. Eric Carle is one of the most beloved children's author. We will discover his world and characters through art, math, science, and literature. The Eric Carle books we will focus on are: The Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, and Today is Monday!
